Five 4over integration pitfalls (and how to avoid each one)

4over is one of the most reliable trade printers in North America - but the API has sharp edges. Knowing them up front saves weeks of debugging.

Pitfall 1: pricing drift

Cache pricing too long and you sell jobs you can't deliver at margin. Don't cache at all and you'll exhaust your rate limit by lunchtime. The right answer is a 5–15 minute cache plus a live verification at cart.

Pitfall 2: order status latency

Status webhooks aren't instant. Poll on a backoff schedule for the first 24 hours, then drop to a slower cadence. Show the customer a 'last updated' timestamp so they trust what they see.
